Facts
Thalia Porter held a fee-simple estate in certain real property. A judgment was entered against Thalia’s husband, Robert Porter (defendant), and the court ordered a sheriff’s sale of Robert’s marital interest in the land to satisfy the judgment. Joseph Canby’s lessee (Canby) (plaintiff) acquired the property at the sheriff’s sale and brought an action in ejectment against Robert.
