Loustalot (plaintiff), an American citizen living in Japan, worked as a salesperson for Admiral Sales Co. Ltd. (Admiral) (defendant). Admiral was an American company with no office or permanent property in Japan. While residing in Japan, Loustalot had possession of Admiral’s products that were used to promote sales in Japan. Loustalot filed suit against Admiral in Japan, asserting a claim of wrongful discharge. Admiral motioned to dismiss the action, arguing a lack of jurisdiction in Japan.
