Lucy v. Adams
United States District Court for the Northern District of Alabama
224 F. Supp. 79 (1963)
- Written by Mike Begovic, JD
Facts
In July 1955, a district court rendered a final judgment, enjoining William E. Adams (defendant), then the dean of admissions of the University of Alabama, from refusing to admit students to the university solely on the basis of their race. Six years later, following Adams’s resignation, Hubert Mate occupied the position. Mate sought construction of the 1955 order and a determination as to whether it applied to him in his official capacity.
