Nicholson v. Connecticut Half-Way House, Inc.
Supreme Court of Connecticut
218 A.2d 383 (1966)
- Written by Josh Lee, JD
Facts
Property owners and residents of a middle-class residential block in Hartford (plaintiffs) sued Connecticut Half-Way House, Inc. (CHH) (the defendant), alleging that the proposed use of a house on the block as a halfway house for parolees would be a nuisance. The plaintiffs sought an injunction to prevent the use. The plaintiffs asserted that the residents of the proposed halfway house would commit criminal acts in the neighborhood and cause a depreciation of property values in the area. The trial court granted the injunction. CHH appealed to the Supreme Court of Connecticut.
