United States Court of Appeals for the Third Circuit
584 F.2d 1235 (1978)
- Written by Salina Kennedy, JD
Facts
After John Novotny (plaintiff) joined the board of directors of the Great American Federal Savings and Loan Association (bank) (defendant), he discovered that the other board members were conspiring to deny equal rights to the bank’s female employees. Novotny advocated for one of the bank’s female employees, resulting in a conflict with the board that led to Novotny’s termination. Novotny sued the bank pursuant to 42 U.S.C. § 1985(3). The district court dismissed his complaint, and Novotny appealed.
