Olivieri v. Rodriguez
United States Court of Appeals for the Seventh Circuit
122 F.3d 406 (1997)
- Written by Kyli Cotten, JD
Facts
Felix Olivieri (plaintiff) was a probationary police officer for the City of Chicago. He was fired during his probation period for sexually harassing fellow probationers who were women at the police training academy. Olivieri brought suit against the police superintendent, Matt Rodriguez (defendant), under 42 U.S.C. § 1983. Olivieri claimed that his firing prevented him from obtaining other employment thereby infringing on his liberty of employment without due process of law. The district court granted summary judgment in favor of Rodriguez.
