Oramulu v. Washington Mutual Bank
United States District Court, S.D. Texas, Houston Division
699 F. Supp. 2d 898 (2009)
- Written by Ross Sewell, JD
Facts
Washington Mutual Bank (defendant) believed that an employee, Oramulu (plaintiff), stole money from a customer. Washington Mutual employees Griggs and Moreau interrogated Oramulu, threatening that the police were on the way and that he would go to prison where he would be raped. Oramulu was questioned for over eight hours, and he alleged that Griggs’s threats overcame his free will to leave. Oramulu brought a false-imprisonment claim against Washington Mutual, which filed a motion for summary judgment.
