Parris v. Parris
South Carolina Supreme Court
460 S.E.2d 571 (1995)
- Written by Darius Dehghan, JD
Facts
Ruth Parris (defendant) and Donald Parris (plaintiff) were married with a child, Maxfield. Ruth’s full-time career as a realtor limited the amount of time that she spent with Maxfield. Donald was more actively involved in Maxfield’s daily life, taking him to school and various extracurricular activities. Ruth and Donald eventually filed for divorce. Donald sought custody of Maxfield, which Ruth challenged. The family court granted custody to Donald. Ruth appealed to the South Carolina Supreme Court.
