Facts
Antonio Caridis (defendant) stole a winning lottery ticket of the Original Nacional Company from Jim Pappas. Upon presenting the ticket to the company, Caridis received $1,250. Caridis was charged with grand larceny. The trial court dismissed the case on the ground that the subject of the alleged larceny had no legitimate value. The prosecution appealed.
