Facts
Fred Lorenzo (defendant) went into a Von’s supermarket and switched price tags on gloves and chickens to get a lower price. The manager saw Lorenzo switch the tags and followed Lorenzo to the checkout counter. After paying for the items, Lorenzo left the store. The manager stopped Lorenzo outside. Lorenzo was arrested and charged with theft by false pretenses. The jury convicted Lorenzo, and he appealed.
