Facts
Dolatao Soldana Zambrano (defendant) was accused of drug crimes. At trial, police officers testified about Zambrano’s involvement in drug transactions and about Zambrano’s arrest. Zambrano testified in his defense and revealed a different version of events. On cross-examination, the attorney for the state repeatedly asked Zambrano whether the police officers were lying regarding each fact to which they testified that differed from Zambrano’s version of events. Zambrano stated that the officers were lying. The jury found Zambrano guilty. Zambrano appealed.
