Facts
Jules Pfeiffer (plaintiff), an Illinois resident, filed two breach of contract actions against five diverse defendants in the United States District Court for the Northern District of Illinois. The claims involved an agreement to produce a play in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. Four defendants filed a motion to dismiss under the Federal Rules of Civil Procedure (FRCP) 12(b)(3), alleging that the court lacked personal jurisdiction and improper venue. The defendants alternatively argued the case should be transferred to another venue.
