Facts
In the 2018 case Planned Parenthood of the Heartland, Inc. v. Reynolds (PPH II), the Iowa Supreme Court held that the due-process clause of the Iowa Constitution guaranteed a fundamental right to abortion. In 2020, the Iowa legislature adopted a 24-hour waiting period for abortions. Planned Parenthood of the Heartland, Inc. (Planned Parenthood) (plaintiff) sued the state (defendant), arguing that the law was invalid under PPH II and the Iowa Constitution.
