Quinn v. Housing Authority of the City of Orlando
Florida District Court of Appeal
385 So. 2d 1167 (1980)
- Written by Liz Nakamura, JD
Facts
The Housing Authority of the City of Orlando (housing authority) (defendant) filed an eviction action against Loretta Quinn (plaintiff) for nonpayment of rent. The housing authority’s complaint was signed and filed by the housing authority’s director; the director was not an attorney. Quinn moved to dismiss, arguing that the housing authority’s action must be dismissed because, as a corporation, the housing authority was not permitted to designate a nonlawyer to represent it in legal proceedings. The trial court denied Quinn’s motion to dismiss. Quinn appealed.
