Facts
Eric Rajala (plaintiff) sued the law firm McGuire Woods, LLP (defendant) for securities fraud and various common-law claims. After numerous discovery-related motions filed by both parties, McGuire Woods filed another motion asking the court for a clawback order that would govern the inadvertent disclosure of privileged documents during discovery. During discovery, McGuire Woods reviewed more than 13,750 documents and planned to review more than 15,000 emails. Further, McGuire Woods stated that it had thousands of clients. Rajala objected to the motion.
