Facts
Maynard Reed (plaintiff) owned a warehouse that he, his employees, and his tenants accessed via a driveway on a neighboring property. The use of the driveway was open and notorious. Reed used the driveway in this way from 1943 until 1970 when James Piedimonte (defendant) bought the neighboring property. At some point Piedimonte permanently blocked the driveway so that Reed could not use it to access his warehouse. Reed brought suit, seeking an order granting an easement by prescription. The trial court found in Reed’s favor. Piedimonte appealed.
