United States District Court for the District of Columbia
2015 WL 4692357 (2015)
- Written by Sean Carroll, JD
Facts
Waldimir Romero (plaintiff) was injured using a meat chopper manufactured by ITW Food Equipment Group, Inc. (defendant). Romero brought a products-liability suit against ITW. The trial court instructed the jury that if the jury found for Romero, its verdict should fully compensate Romero for all of his injuries. The jury returned a verdict of almost $3 million for Romero. ITW notified the court of its intent to appeal and filed a motion to stay the judgment until the appeal was resolved. Romero did not oppose the stay but filed a motion to amend the judgment to include prejudgment interest.
