Facts
Charles Schindler (defendant) crashed his pickup truck into a motorcycle driven by Johnny Sanchez, who died as a result of his injuries. Johnny’s parents, Eugene and Angelica Sanchez (plaintiffs), sued Schindler, alleging wrongful death. The jury found that Schindler was liable for the crash but determined that the Sanchezes had not suffered any pecuniary damages. The jury also found that Ms. Sanchez had proven mental anguish and awarded her $102,500. Schindler appealed.
