Standifer v. Val Gene Management Services, Inc.
Oklahoma Court of Appeals
527 P.2d 28 (1974)
- Written by Brian Meadors, JD
Facts
Janell Standifer (plaintiff) rented an apartment managed by Val Gene Management Services, Inc. (Val Gene) (defendant). Standifer moved out of the apartment at Val Gene’s request. After Standifer moved, she learned that an agent of Val Gene had said that Standifer was a constant troublemaker, not a fit tenant, a harasser, profane, and disruptive, among other statements impugning Standifer. Standifer sued for slander, claiming her moving costs as actual damages. The trial court dismissed Standifer’s case. Standifer appealed.
