State in Interest of D.G.W.
New Jersey Supreme Court
361 A.2d 513 (1976)
- Written by Tammy Boggs, JD
Facts
The state (plaintiff) charged four juveniles, including D.G.W. (defendant) with breaking and entering certain residences and school buildings. D.G.W. admitted the charges and was adjudicated a juvenile delinquent. The juvenile court placed D.G.W. on probation for one year and ordered restitution for the victims as determined by the probation department. The probation department determined that total damage to the school buildings was $626, and each of the four juveniles was ordered to pay $156.50, or one-fourth of the total damage amount. D.G.W. appealed, challenging the propriety and amount of restitution.
