State v. Hartzier
New Mexico Court of Appeals
433 P.2d 231 (1967)
- Written by Rose VanHofwegen, JD
Facts
Paul Hartzier (defendant) kept the body of a woman who died on his property for an extended period of time without burying it. [Ed.’s note: The casebook misstates that the woman was Hartzier’s wife.] The trial court convicted Hartzier of mishandling a corpse. Hartzier appealed, arguing that he lacked evil intent.
