Facts
A woman sued a vessel, the Admiral Peoples (defendant) after the woman fell from the end of the Admiral’s gangplank while disembarking the ship. The woman sued for her injuries, and the lower court found that the woman’s fall off the gangplank was not a maritime injury subject to admiralty jurisdiction. The woman appealed, and the appeals court affirmed. The woman appealed to the United States Supreme Court.
