Facts
Thorley (plaintiff) received a letter from Lord Kerry (defendant) that read, “[Thorley,] under the cloak of religious and spiritual reform, hypocritically, and with the grossest impurity, deals out his malice, uncharitableness, and falsehoods.” Thorley brought a libel suit against Kerry. The court found in favor of Thorley, and Kerry appealed.
