Facts
Deanna Costello (defendant) allowed her boyfriend to live with her for a period of seven months after her boyfriend illegally reentered the United States. The federal government prosecuted Costello for illegally harboring an alien who had entered the United States in violation of the law. Costello was convicted and subsequently appealed to the United States Court of Appeals for the Seventh Circuit.
