United States v. Crane
United States District Court for the District of Oregon
2009 WL 112942 (2009)

- Written by Sean Carroll, JD
Facts
Police attempted to pull over Shawn Crane (defendant), but Crane crashed his car and fled. The police recovered a firearm from the purse of Erica Bryant, who was in the car and was prepared to testify that Crane gave her the firearm before he fled. Crane was indicted for being a felon in possession of a firearm. The prosecution (plaintiff) filed a motion to introduce evidence of Crane’s prior conviction for being a felon in possession of a firearm. In that case, Crane was pulled over, and police found a firearm in his passenger’s purse. Crane pled guilty in that case.
