Facts
Victor Georgescu (defendant), a Romanian citizen, was indicted for sexual abuse of a child, committed on board a Scandinavian Airlines flight from Copenhagen to New York. Georgescu moved to dismiss the charges, claiming that the United States lacked jurisdiction. Georgescu argued that jurisdiction applied only to crimes in furtherance of hijacking under the Hague Convention, not to the sex crimes for which he was charged.
