Facts
Norma Hernandez-Orellana and Maritza Olmeda Drewry (defendants) participated in an alien-smuggling operation. Hernandez-Orellana and Drewry helped to arrange logistics for and were involved in the transport of two aliens after the aliens reached the United States. Although they had knowledge that the aliens would be smuggled into the United States, neither Hernandez-Orellana nor Drewry was involved in transporting them into the country. Hernandez-Orellana and Drewry were convicted for aiding and abetting in bringing aliens into the United States in violation of 18 U.S.C. § 1324 and for conspiracy to bring aliens into the United States in violation of 18 U.S.C. § 371 and 18 U.S.C. § 1324. Hernandez-Orellana and Drewry appealed.
