United States v. Renville
United States Court of Appeals for the Eighth Circuit
779 F.2d 430 (1985)
- Written by Serena Lipski, JD
Facts
Harvey Renville (defendant) was convicted of sexually abusing his 11-year-old stepdaughter. During Renville’s trial, Dr. Clark Likness, the physician who examined the victim for signs of sexual abuse, testified about the victim’s statements to him during the exam identifying Renville as her abuser. Renville objected to the testimony as hearsay. The trial court admitted the testimony, and Renville was convicted. Renville appealed, arguing that the trial court erred in admitting the testimony of Dr. Likness.
