Definition

A brief in which appointed appellate counsel requests to withdraw on the basis that the appeal is frivolous, but in such cases, counsel must also refer to any issue in the record that might support the appeal, as required by Anders v. California, 386 U.S. 738 (1967), so that the reviewing court may determine whether the appeal has merit.
