Mass Tort Action
Definition
A civil legal action in which multiple plaintiffs file against one or more at-fault defendants. The individuals have similar claims but unlike a class action where the class members’ claims are litigated by a class representative, mass tort plaintiffs are treated and compensated as individual litigants.
