Request for Quotations (RFQ)

Definition

The government uses an RFQ to solicit quotes from contractors for contracts to acquire goods and services that fall below the dollar limit in the statutorily-defined simplified acquisition threshold; as of 2022, the threshold is $250,000. A Request for Proposals (RFP) is employed to solicit proposals for contracts exceeding the simplified acquisition threshold.
