Abrams v. Abrams
Texas Court of Appeals
713 S.W.2d 195 (1986)
- Written by Whitney Kamerzel , JD
Facts
Jerald and Maria Abrams were married, had three children, and were subsequently divorced. The trial court ordered Jerald to pay $500 in child support per month per child until the first child reached 18, increasing to $600 per month per child until the second child reached 18, and increasing to $800 a month until the third child reached 18. The only evidence that the trial court received to support the periodic increases in child support was that the second child needed braces and dental work that would cost $3,000. No other evidence justified the increases. Jerald appealed, arguing that the trial court erred by entering a child-support order that provided for periodic increases.
