Anderson v. Little League Baseball
United States District Court for the District of Arizona
794 F. Supp. 342 (1992)
- Written by Alexander Hager-DeMyer, JD
Facts
Lawrence Anderson (plaintiff) was an on-field base coach for Little League Baseball, Inc. (defendant) for three years. Anderson had previously suffered a spinal-cord injury and used a wheelchair for mobility. Little League Baseball implemented a policy prohibiting coaches in wheelchairs from coaching on the field and requiring them to perform their duties from the dugout, allegedly in the interest of player safety. Anderson filed suit in federal district court, claiming that the policy violated the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA).
