Definition

A place that is open to and offers goods, services, facilities, or accommodations to the general public. Federal and state laws prohibit discrimination in public accommodations on the basis of race, color, religion, national origin, and disability. Many state laws also prohibit discrimination on the basis of sex, age, sexual orientation, and gender identity.
