Camden v. Maryland
United States District Court for the District of Maryland
910 F. Supp. 1115 (1996)

- Written by Sean Carroll, JD
Facts
Dorothy Camden (plaintiff) filed a discrimination lawsuit against Bowie State University (BSU) (defendant). Meyers, Billingsley, Rodbell and Rosenbaum (MBRR), a law firm, represented Camden in the matter. Richard Redmond worked for BSU on the matter and discussed the matter extensively with BSU’s attorneys. Redmond signed BSU’s official response to Camden’s complaint. Redmond also met with MBRR to discuss the matter. While the matter was pending, Redmond’s employment with BSU ended on unpleasant terms. Subsequently, MBRR met with Redmond, and Redmond divulged confidential BSU communications and documents. BSU filed a motion to strike Redmond’s testimony and disqualify MBRR as Camden’s attorney.
