Campbell v. Robinson
South Carolina Court of Appeals
726 S.E.2d 221 (2012)
- Written by Rose VanHofwegen, JD
Facts
Matthew Campbell (plaintiff) gave Ashley Robinson (defendant) an engagement ring when he proposed. He sued to get it back after they broke up. Robinson claimed Campbell cancelled the engagement, and twice told her she could keep the ring. Campbell claimed the breakup was mutual and that he never said she could keep the ring. The trial court directed a verdict that Robinson had to return the ring to Campbell, and Robinson appealed.
