Facts
A federal law banned advertising casino gambling on radio or television, even in states such as Louisiana where casino gambling was legal. The Greater New Orleans Broadcasting Association, Inc. (plaintiff) brought a lawsuit against the government (defendant), claiming the law violated the First Amendment. The district court granted the government summary judgment, and the Fifth Circuit affirmed. The broadcasters appealed to the Supreme Court.
