Keech v. Sandford
England and Wales Court of Chancery
25 Eng. Rep. 223 (1726)
- Written by Eric Miller, JD
Facts
Keech (plaintiff), an infant, inherited the lease on a large outdoor market area. The lessor devised the lease to Sandford (defendant), who acted as trustee for Keech. Later, the lessor refused to renew the lease for the benefit of Keech, allowing Sandford to take it for himself. When Keech reached adulthood, he sued Sandford for the profits made on the lease in the interim.
