Facts
Morgan Guaranty Trust Co. of New York and several other companies (the companies) (plaintiffs) had received maritime liens over vessels owned by Hellenic Lines Limited (Hellenic) (defendant) and arrested the vessels. Hellenic then declared bankruptcy. The companies sought a declaration that the admiralty court retained exclusive jurisdiction over the vessels and freights despite Hellenic’s Chapter 11 bankruptcy petition.
