Texas Court of Appeals
2008 WL 828327 (2008)

- Written by Darius Dehghan, JD
Facts
Tyrone Quinn (defendant) and Shaleh Milanizadeh (plaintiff) lived together without obtaining a marriage license. When Quinn and Milanizadeh purchased their home, however, they signed the loan documents as husband and wife. Moreover, Quinn and Milanizadeh called each other husband and wife in front of their friends. Due to a new job, Quinn left the home he lived in with Milanizadeh. After finishing the job, Quinn returned home to live with Milanizadeh. Milanizadeh eventually filed for divorce. The trial court found that a common-law marriage existed between Quinn and Milanizadeh. Quinn appealed.
