Facts
Mr. Rankin (plaintiff) and Mrs. Rankin (defendant) were married. Mr. Rankin filed a petition for divorce. Testimony from both parties at trial indicated that Mr. and Mrs. Rankin had a discordant marriage. Specifically, the parties called each other vulgar names and at various points each threatened to kill the other. Additionally, Mr. Rankin physically abused Mrs. Rankin and was in fact arrested for assault and battery. The trial court granted Mr. Rankin’s petition for divorce. Mrs. Rankin appealed.
