Trial of Rohde
British Military Court
5 LRTWC 54 (1948)
- Written by Alex Ruskell, JD
Facts
Nazis took four British women prisoner and accused them of spying. After some weeks, the prisoners were given a lethal injection by Rohde (defendant), a medical officer. Other people were in charge of bringing the poison to Rohde, lighting the oven, and cremating the prisoners’ bodies. After the war, Rohde and the others were accused of war crimes. Rohde and the others claimed that they were only following orders, although Rohde admitted that he never saw any evidence of a death sentence having been passed on the victims.
