Facts
Greifelt (defendant) was a civilian who worked for the Race and Settlement Main Office of Nazi Germany. The office was tasked with screening people for German blood, encouraging Germans to have more children, repatriating foreigners with German blood, and eliminating races and nationalities that the Nazis believed were inferior. After World War II ended, Greifelt was arrested and charged with war crimes. Greifelt claimed that he was only doing his job and following the orders of his superiors and the laws of Nazi Germany.
