Facts
W.T. Grant Company (Grant) (defendant) sought to obtain credit payments from two customers, Vogel (plaintiff) and Smith (plaintiff). In the course of these efforts, Grant contacted Vogel’s and Smith’s employers and family members, with whom Grant discussed Vogel’s and Smith’s debts. Vogel and Smith brought suit for invasion of privacy. The chancellor found in favor of Vogel and Smith. Grant was enjoined from further contact with third parties in Grant’s attempts to collect from Vogel and Smith. Grant appealed. The Pennsylvania Supreme Court granted certiorari.
