Webber v. Froedtert Memorial Lutheran Hospital
Wisconsin Court of Appeals
468 N.W.2d 211 (1991)
- Written by Meagan Anglin, JD
Facts
Lester Webber’s (plaintiff) wife was admitted to a hospital due to Webber’s neglect. Mrs. Webber needed protective services due to her serious medical conditions and Webber’s failure to obtain medical treatment for her. Webber went to Froedtert Memorial Lutheran Hospital (hospital) (defendant) to visit his wife, but multiple members of the hospital’s staff prohibited Webber from entering his wife’s hospital room. Webber brought suit against the hospital and argued that the hospital’s refusal to let him in his wife’s room constituted false imprisonment. The trial court dismissed Webber’s complaint of false imprisonment and Webber appealed.
