Facts
King Wilson (defendant) was in possession of a check initially written for $2.50. That amount was written in the top righthand corner and body of the check, and the body of the check was stamped with the words “Ten Dollars or Less.” Wilson edited the $2.50 in the top right corner to reflect $12.50 and tried to deposit the check. Wilson was convicted of attempt to commit forgery based on his alteration and appealed.
