Worley v. Wyoming Bottling Co.
Wyoming Supreme Court
1 P.3d 615 (2000)

- Written by Rich Walter, JD
Facts
Wyoming Bottling Company, Inc. (company) (defendant) was rapidly increasing demands on Jerry Worley (plaintiff), a key employee with an exemplary record. Worley threatened to quit unless senior managers promised that Worley’s job was safe. Both Worley’s direct supervisor and the company’s president assured Worley that his job was safe for as long as he wanted it. Worley went on working until he was fired some months later. Worley sued the company for breaching an oral employment contract. The trial court granted summary judgment for the company, and Worley appealed to the Wyoming Supreme Court.
