Definition

Characteristics of evidence that enable courts to treat the evidence as reliable. In the law-enforcement context, indicia of reliability are characteristics of an anonymous crime report that entitle law enforcement officers to treat the report as credible and imply the reasonableness of a subsequent search and seizure based on the report.
