Relator
Definition
The real party in interest on whose behalf a governmental entity, government official, or other individual or group files a lawsuit. The term relator may also refer to an individual who files a qui tam action on behalf of the United States government under the federal False Claims Act or to someone who files a petition for a writ of mandamus, writ of habeas corpus, or writ of prohibition.
