Facts
Deanna Walls (plaintiff) was sexually assaulted in the parking lot of an apartment complex where she lived. The complex was managed by Oxford Management Company (defendant). Walls sued Oxford claiming breach of a duty to warn residents about lax security, breach of a duty to warn about past criminal activity on the premises, and breach of a duty to provide adequate security. A lower court ruling led to the certification of two questions for supreme court review.
